This November, several affordable housing programs will open their waiting lists in Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia. If you need help paying for housing, these openings are important chances to apply.

Some lists are open only for a short time, so it’s important to be prepared.

Greenville Housing Authority (South Carolina)
 
  • Program: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
  • How long is the waiting list open? 3 days only
  • Dates: November 5–7, 2025
  • What to do: Apply as soon as it opens on Tuesday.

Bessemer Housing Authority (Alabama)
 
  • Program: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
  • How long is the waiting list open? 3 days only
  • Dates: November 5–7, 2025
  • Serves: Bessemer and nearby areas
  • What to do: Apply during these three days.

Longview Housing Authority (Texas)
 
  • Program: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
  • Opening date: November 6, 2025
  • How long is the list open? Until further notice (ongoing)

Jonesboro Housing Authority (Georgia)
 
  • Program: Public Housing (2- and 4-bedroom units)
  • Opening date: November 20, 2025
  • How long is the waiting list open? 1 day only
  • What to do: Be ready to apply on November 20th
